Honeycomb

Yeaaaa~ At last I done my DIY honeycomb which sold for RM 300 for the whole set. But I just done one of them only and it’s work. So, I will continue doing it tomorrow because I am out of material for the moment.

Why I do this honeycomb is because I want to shoot the effect from my last post. I GOT POISON post got the effect using this honeycomb. So, I will make one to use it in future shooting. Actually, this honeycomb thing is to control the light so that it become so called spot light and you can use it for fill.

Everyone can do one of it now. And I plan to write out what I have done and how I do it.

OK, let’s start make a tutorial

OK, this is all you need. But, I miss the UHU inside it…haha..anyway, basically you just need all the thing in this image only. Remember, if you buy a black straw then you no need to use black spray to spray the straw. As you can see I only can get blue straw in cyberjaya…d0′h, I also didn’t know so hard to buy a black straw in cyberjaya. So, what I did is I spray the straw become black so that the light will go straight and will not come out blue for god sake.

OK, let move to size and measurement. Can you see I divided it into 5 section. Bigger section is for upper and down while the medium section is for side and the small section is for stick them together. So, for SB-800 measure is 1cm, 4cm, 6cm, 4cm, 6cm and the height is 8.5cm. The height is 8.5cm because the straw is 5cm each and the other is for the flash head. For the moment I try to make the bigger spot so I make the straw 5cm. I will continue to make a smaller spot light later on.

Ops….done…for me a tutorial doesn’t need to explain small details that everyone know. So, here is the final outcome. Does it look like honeycomb?? If you say no then I will say do’h…hahaha.. So frmo step 2 then you proceed to stick all the straw together so it will look like honeycomb. Do you know how honeycomb look like? If not google it before you do it, so you will get the same thing. As the whole thing is black because I using gaffer tape and tape it around so it will look cooler. No reason for that, if you didn’t want to waste your gaffer tape then no need to do it…haha…So how it look like on SB-800? Lets look at it…

Look cool huh~ on SB-800…hahaha…make yourself thing is always cool then you buy it.

So, what type of light this creep will produce? Lets see….

huhuhu~ perfect circle. Yes, I success. I thought my outsome will be like honeycomb many dots..hahaha..lucky it come out perfect circle.

FYI, if you can’t produce a perfect circle in white wall then your honeycomb is something wrong. So, lets DIY for everything. Safe the cost. Imagine RM 50 can make this whole thing rather then you pay RM 300 for the whole set. Safe the money to buy extra flash…hahaha…

Anyone want to buy from me? One honeycomb RM 20…hahahahaha
